Arranging respite care for the first time may be difficult, but it should become an essential part of any caregiver’s schedule. Some signs that may signal a need to arrange for respite care include:
Increased anxiety
Decline in sleep
An increase in irritability
Feeling of anger toward the care recipient
Respite care provides a break for you and offers temporary care for your loved one. Although there are different approaches to respite care, all have the same basic objective; to provide caregivers with planned temporary, intermittent, substitute care, allowing for relief from the daily responsibilities of care for the care recipient.
